Making Learning Memorable: The Human Factor

This project arises from the absolute commitment EOI La Orotava has demonstrated towards academic excellence as well as from the professional awareness of its faculty to achieve a quality assurance of the teaching and learning processes.

Our students’ need to attain a meaningful and motivating learning experience leads us, teachers, to pursue a solution and work together towards meeting it.

The 7 teachers involved in the project hold educational leadership positions and play, thus, a key role in the evolution and development of the school. These teachers are widely experienced, highly qualified.

With the objective of placing the focus on the human factor, on motivating and moving the students to make learning memorable we intend to attend various structured training courses based on four topics:

  1. innovative methodological approaches
  2. creativity
  3. students’ psychology
  4. motivation

We believe that working on these four subjects we will acquire the necessary knowledge to achieve our final aim, a memorable teaching and learning process.

Moreover, we have planned some professional stays to job-shadow in different adult schools in Finland, given the reputation this country holds and the leading position it has on the Pisa educational reports. These professional stays will allow the heads of the different departments, as well as the managing team, to know how the schools are managed from an academic and an administrative point of view. These two viewpoints will complement each other to achieve the goals of the project.

This project is conceptually ambitious, but it is also very ambitious as far as results are concerned since we expect to have a direct and profound effect in the daily teaching practice of the school. We hope that teachers, from an action-oriented approach, will acquire and use new dynamic and innovative teaching tools to cater for diversity in personality and learning styles, thus, fostering a positive pedagogy promoting group cohesion and success-oriented.

By improving the quality of the teaching practice we hope there will be a positive impact on students’ commitment and autonomous learning, which will, therefore, have a positive impact on attendance and performance as well as registration figures.

In the long term, we hope to have a more European school which will become a referent point in the North of Tenerife, giving visibility to the school and guaranteeing academic excellence.
